Mmmm...I think I've heard before about local lads "who never wanted to leave in the first place." Strangely enough they all seem to - especially when it comes to a transfer to a bigger club. The country must be full of ex-Leicester City players all in personal turmoil because they have had to move on against their wishes.

As for Piper - I would have thought that the chances of him regaining his fitness level of three years ago are pretty unlikely.

The Mackems have cut their losses - they cannot see him becoming the player thay had hoped for (due to ongoing injuries).

Only worth a deal such as pay when you play - if that was acceptable to him.

As I've intimated before, unfortunately, he's obviously big time crocked. He is not the answer to our problems, and to be honest, even if fit he was never going to be. My boss, for his sins is a football agent, and the releasing from his contract is the first step in claiming on his insurance policy that covers bad/persistant injuries. Most well advised players carry this, and I'm sure Matty does. It's sad, but he probably will not play top flight footie again, because if he does he will not be able to back-claim on his insurance i.e. his insurers will say: call it a day now and we'll pay you out, carry on and your insurance is invalid.

Yes - Sunderland would not have released him from contract lightly - given the investment thay have made.

It looks like the couple of weeks at Coventry has just confirmed that he is not up to returning to the game at a serious professional level.

It happens - unfortunately.

Which leg did he wreck? if his right one is ok then maybe we can do a transplant with syllas and finally have a winger who can cross the ball.

just a thought. :102:
