Spot on Pontus. We have had too many managers trying to pick the 11 best players and finding positions for them.

IMO, you work on a formation and then choose the best player for each position.

It's also where I believe the England team suffers, trying to pick the 11 best players instead of the best available for each position.

The left does look weak, everyone's right, particularly without Mattock.

I don't think anyone wants us to start the season with Chambers or Kenton at left back or Sheehan as first choice (he seems to need to get his head together).

Problem is we don't really have anyone who springs out at you as a good choice to replace Mattock who is only 17.

Hopefully we can bring in the necessary players over the next few days.

Stefanovic and Murphy would be perfect. Perhaps not Unsworth.

Stefanovic is a quality ball playing left back and Murphy would give us the option of either havng a three man midfield or moving Clemence to the left should Mattock not be fit.

Will be interesting to see if Allen decides 'let's adopt an underdog mentality and not ruin it with any last minute additions'

I hope not. because we've finally got the cash to have a choice.

Chambers looks a good pacey right back but on the left he looked weak and didnt get forward as much. Sheehan we were sendin out on loan a few weeks ago now he is the answer 2 the left side problem?

Id be happier with Sheehan rather than Chambers if Mattocks not available, i will be amazed if MA dont sort out this problem, hes already declared some positions need strengthening, its also no coincidence how weve improved in some friendlies when Chambers was moved from left back
