Did anyone else think Maybury had a shocker against Southampton? He seems to be regularly getting beaten by balls in behind him and being drawn into the middle of the pitch.

Thoughts?

i thought it was one of his better games even though he hasnt had much to beat :icon_lol:

I just think Stearman is alot more solid and dependable and also get's forward. I think possibly Sylla will get his ass in gear if he has someone on the overlap?

i like stearman but maybury seems to be cls blue eyed boy and as for someone overlapping sylla they would be able to do it just walking past him

Maybury this season has been like the evil twin brother of the player we saw last season.

I thought he was our best player after he arrived but it looks as if the refusal to let him go to Sunderland has left him totally demotivated. Perhaps Craig is playing him purely to teach him a lesson in loyalty. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he went in January, which would be a real shame. If he could get back his form he'd be one of the best defenders in the division.

He is still the best Right Back at the Club IMO,doesn't help him having Sylla in front of him.Don't get me wrong Stearman looks a great prospect but I still think he'll be a better at Centre Half.Maybury maybe going through a dip in form all players go through it.

I thought Maybury was poor on Saturday, he got turned far too easily at times and his distribution was awful, he was easily our worst defender.

Starman has made a lot of defensive errors this season, and he deserved to be dropped.

I think a lot of supporters have a blind spot when it comes to younger players, they assume that if someone's young they must be better than someone who's older. Maybe it's because we've had so few young players coming through in recent years we're desperate to see a few come through.

We've seen the same thing with Sheehan this season, he was getting rave reviews when he didn't do that well.

honestly? I thought sheehan played quite well, I'd much prefer to see a left back at left back, rather than a centre half just for the sake of playing him. Johansson's getting a bit better, but I think he lacks a bit of pace, a solid centre half tho'

I agree with you on Stearman. He is going to be a brilliant player but think back to the coventry game. He was woeful in the first half, really looked out of his depth.

Maybury is our first choice RB. Stearman does a great job but it doesnt bother me to see him on the bench at the minute. His time will come as well all know.

Disagree with Sheehan. Was only ever impressed with him with what I saw, think that was probably because I was comparing him to the other 6 fill in left backs we have had this season who have all been shite!
