McCarthy Takes The Armband
Leicester City boss Rob Kelly has confirmed that Patrick McCarthy will skipper his side for the upcoming campaign.
The Foxes defender deputised in the role last season for the majority of matches, although Danny Tiatto remained the official club captain.
But speaking after the Macclesfield friendly, Kelly revealed that he would be giving McCarthy the job on a full time basis for the upcoming campaign.
He said: "Patrick is a leader and I am sure he will make a great captain for Leicester City Football Club.
"I have spoken to Danny and he fully understands the situation. I want him to concentrate on himself this season and therefore I have tried to take any extra responsibility away from him."
McCarthy added: "I have always dreamt of captaining a big side like Leicester.
"There are a lot of big voices in the dressing room, so it isn't going to all be on my shoulders. I will be getting a helping hand throughout the season from the senior professionals like Danny Tiatto, Alan Maybury, Andy Johnson and Rab Douglas."
