Could be out all season !!!

Rob Kelly has today confirmed that he could be without skipper Paddy McCarthy for the rest of the season.

The Republic of Ireland defender dislocated his shoulder in a freak training ground accident in the run up to the Luton Town game.

And speaking on Monday afternoon, the City boss revealed that the injury was worse than had been originally feared.

He said: "I think Paddy will do well to get back before the end of the season. That's obviously disappointing.

"But there is no point in dwelling on these things so we will get on with it.

"It is an area of the pitch where we have got good competition for places. We have got the two lads who played there on Saturday (Gareth McAuley and Patrick Kisnorbo) plus the likes of Darren Kenton, Nisse Johansson and Richard Stearman."

Meanwhile, Kelly was also able to relay some positive injury news from the camp.

He added: "Gareth (McAuley) is still struggling a little with his calf, while Stephen (Hughes) has got a groin and back problem. But he is going to have another injection this week and we are hopeful.

"Iain (Hume) has got tight hamstrings, but none of those injuries are what we would call long-term.

"Danny (Tiatto) should be back in training by the end of the week, but Saturday could come too early for him.

"Matty (Fryatt) is also coming along a lot better.

"So we have got three or four who have got bumps and bruises at the moment, but we will have a clearer picture by the middle of the week."

Hinted on another forum that he might be fecked for good - but just a rumour

Thank goodness for that.

Maybe a bit harsh as I would say that he is a good back-up centre back, but can't honestly say that I would stick him ahead of Paddy Kisnorbo or Gareth McAuley!!

And if either gets injured it would NEJ I take ie

Would not be surprised to see Andy O'Brien bought in on loan now, also wonder whether we will ever see Paddy in a city shirt again :102:

Has he ever played as centre-back for us though? Even though it is supposed to be his natural position and he certainly has the physical attributes for a centre-back as opposed to a full-back.

or Kenton
or Stearman

Would rather have Paddy Mc at centre-back than either of them. Both too light-weight for that position IMO.

Yes, a number of times

I don't wish anyone to have a serious injury, but McCauly and Kisnorbo are so much better...

Let's hope it is just a rumour. Whilst he's not one of my favourites, I'd rather not lose him like that.

Absolutely - I'd assume he's got to have an op to try to ensure he doesn't dislocate it again, and that will keep him out until the end of the season.

Hes out for the season.

I for one am gutted. People need to realise that Paddy Mac is not the finished article. I am pleased that we have McCauley and Kisnorbo, and perhaps in an ideal world they are first choice, but I don't think we can write off our captain nor do I think we should. With a bit of time (and I don't think it will take too much) he will be quite justifyably captain. For now he is a bit raw and hot headed but he is a good player.

He gives his all and I respect that. Get well sorry paddy.

I don't really think this will be a problem for us.

We can just have Kisnorbo and McAuley in the centre of defence and if one of them gets injured just have Stearman because he needs to play more anyway.

I don't really see it as much of a problem at all :102:
