You're not singing anymore!

Great game today. Did everything right. Touches off. Held the ball up while holding off two defenders and scored two good goals with his head.

How much better does he have to get before the fickle boneheads ackowledge that for £50 000 he is best value striker in this league?

One good game doesnt make a world beater. I wasnt at the game but he did sound as if he played well and long may it continue. Good performances brew confidence. It could also go the other way and in the next game he could end up having a mare.

He's been our best striker score ever since Connolly left. But even after two goals today people were moaning about him when he had a bad first touch or flicked the ball on and no one was on the end of it.

It seems that some people just want an excuse to boo MdV, when Hume and Hammond miss the target they're 'unlucky' (and they get their name chanted), but when MdV does the same thing he's a donkey.

Goals this season:

MdV: 8
Hume: 1
Hammond: 1

But a lot of fans still seem to think he's not as good as the others :102:

This is what the gaffer said after the match:

"I sometimes feel sorry for Mark because when he doesn't play well he can look so cumbersome and appears worse than he actually is.
It might have taken him time to settle here but he now has eight goals and I'm sure there is more to come.
And I am also pleased that, with the headers today, he has dispelled the myth he doesn't pull his weight in the air."

I think what Cl is right to a certain extent when he says that when MDV plays well he is hard to handle but when he plays crap he is utter shite. He has scored his fair share of goals, albeit some might as well come off his arse with the amount of skill involved, the key is consistency. There is no point in having 1 good game in every 3-4 matches. Im not saying he has got to be brilliant every match though. Maybe also the supply was better from midfield today too.

It doesn't matter how they go in, they all count the same.
The only goals Hume and Hammond have scored have been tap ins - but I don't hear any abuse directed at them.
It's all very well someone like Hume taking the ball past a couple of players and then shooting wide, but that doesn't win matches.

I think MdV has had more good matches than bad ones this season - how many of our other players can you say that about?

i think alot of people were made to eat their words today, but unfortunately this is not the first time, and they havent took note so far. i delighted in 2 goals from big dave, and amused myself for the rest of the game shouting about how shite MDV is as loud as i could at a certain fan that sits along from me.

We always seem to need a scapegoat.

I am glad that MdV is making a few eat their words (although he may end up top scorer with 20 goals and still be getting slagged off by some at the end of the season).

I do wonder about the intelligence of some of our so called fans. After 2 goals yesterday a moron who sits near me still couldnt stop himself from slagging MDV off, for a mistake that Silla made. Now I know that they are both black but they are not that difficult to identify, are they?

MDV now has more league goals than the rest of the team put together.

It's time to get behind him.

I was surprised by the reaction to MDV on Tues, he seemed to get alot of blame for missing chances yet i'm sure the worst culprit was Hammond, who also was far far worse than MDV yet didn't get any stick.

Hammond really isn't good enough at all at the moment, he is very poor.

At present you can't argue with his goal/game ratio. In a team that isnt netting loads of goals his record thus far is good enough. If he maintains this rate till the end of the season he will end up with an impressive tally. If the other two strikers were hitting 50% as many as MDV, and if the Midfield could chip in with a few, we would be doing much better. It worries me a little that we are not scoring goals from other sources.

Bottom line is that his goal scoring form deserves better support from fans.

Although I didn't go to the game yesterday, due to a serious illness (man-flu, far worse than bird-flu), there is also a moron near where I sit that continually slags off MDV, even if he plays well he'll stick pick faults. I think CL hit the nail on the head in what he said, at times MDV does look cumbersome, but he is one of the better players in the team and you cannot knock he scoring record.

As for Hammond, Dunc is right, fair enough he is quick but that's about it.

After MDV had scored two goals some woman near me started to slag him off because he was offside and he should 'watch the line...' and proceeded to say how crap he was!! I couldnt believe it.

As I have said before this time last year DC had scored only 1 goal and nobody slated him even though at times he looked disinterested. MDV gives his all and everytime too.

At the end of the day MDV scores goals, he might not be the most skillful player in the world, but he does a good job for us. He is in the right places at the right time and several league goals prove that.

Who will bet against him having 10 goals by xmas?

MDV :038: :038: :038: :038: :038: :038: :038:

Well done MDV :038:

Whatever he may do wrong in games, you can't argue with his goals. and he seems to be scoring consistantly now.

Now we just need to get somebody else scoring!

Thing is I actually think he is quite skilfull for his size, I can't understand the barracking other than CL's explanation about him looking cumbersome at times, maybe? What other club boos their top scorer??
