solved it

i had two measures, Principle and Principle Projected and i wanted to create a measure that was one divided by the other, then taken away from a benchmark rate dimension

and if the principle was null, i wasnted a null...

solution was:-

CASE
WHEN ISEMPTY([Measures].[Projected]) THEN NULL
ELSE (([Measures].[Projected]/[Measures].[Principal Amt])-strToValue([BENCH].[BenchMarkRate].CurrentMember.Properties("Key")))
END

i had two measures, Principle and Principle Projected and i wanted to create a measure that was one divided by the other, then taken away from a benchmark rate dimension

and if the principle was null, i wasnted a null...
