Correct - once beyond the Academy stage, the GK coach is only going to have a marginal effect if any. I don't know whether such coaches use an analyst approach or what but I doubt whether his staying or going will make a lot of difference. If we had a top class keeper (which we haven't) the other keepers might improve by seeing that example.

Pardon my ignorance, but if this is so; why do clubs employ a goalkeeping coach?

Most of the fundamentals are learnt in the very early days.

Whilst the early coaching is fairly intense, players who have been in the game a while should just neeed ticking over + gradually working on areas.
