It's not what he spends his money on.

It's that he spends his time caring more about imagine and his brand than he does the club he plays for.
Oh for the pasionate, chest thumping, badge clutching, primal screaming of a modern day Stuart "Psycho" Pearce - but I guess you'd be unlikley to get that at Spurs...

I don't. I think all this Maddison hate is over the top.
I haven’t seen any hatred towards him, more of a strong dislike due to his actions and comments.

Such as calling out a journalist (with about a dozen games to go) who had dared to say we were in a relegation scrap.

Madderz responded by trying to accuse him of sensationalist journalism and that we weren’t in a scrap at all.

Seems, one of the two were right?

One of my daughters bumped into him while she was on a school trip. He was there with his partner but they couldn’t have been nicer and she took photos of all the kids with him.

I'm not sure it was a relegation scrap. To call it a scrap would suggest that everybody was fighting to avoid it. That certainly didn't seem to be the case at any level. It seemed to me that we just relaxed ourselves into it. Nobody moreso than Maddison in both words and actions.
I actually do think I hate him.

Probably a better take on it Boc.

What makes it worse is that even with a minimal uplift in effort, he was one of few players who could have turned it around for us.

FWIW, I dislike Evans more than Maddison, club captain, the work-shy wanker.

I blame Rodgers and Rodgers alone, but I don't hate him. I think that unwittingly, he has done us a great favour. Relegation has forced us the abandon a failed business model which could, had it continued, led to far more serious problems than relegation.

Unfortunately, the rules do not allow for a romantic rebirth, reinvigorating everyone.

Due to relegation, we're completey fecked financially for years to come. FFP will kill us if we try to spend anything much after promotion. We'll need to sell again.

Every club is a selling club, to some extent, so it’s not quite so much doom and gloom as you insinuate.

We have removed some very expensive and unproductive players from our overheads last summer, with more to come this summer, possibly up to 20m in salaries. The money we received from the sale of Maddison, Barnes, Castagne and Hirst I would hope has stabilised our financial position for this season.

We have made some good acquisitions at reasonable prices. A business plan assuming European football every season is now seen for what it was...Dreaming. I don't think that we are fecked. We have maybe gone back to the Vichai model. Keep your overheads low and reward results with bonuses, do not consolidate them into your fixed overheads.

Surely with promotion comes increased income via sponsorship, TV, merchandise and so forth.

I am certain there is a way to spend but still remain within FFP.

Plus, I don’t really want us to bankrupt ourselves to get to the ‘promised land,’ I would prefer us to be sustainable and live within our means.

Like by scoring that penalty - for instance?
(against Everton)
That’s the one thing I don’t blame him for. Players with the best attitudes can miss a penalty. His general “we’ll be fine” attitude and lack of effort is why I don’t wish him well professionally.

But absolutely Evans is by far the one I hate the most. He didn’t give a **** about being a professional. A **** of monumental proportions.
