Who exactly are you going to invite to these awards and what type of music will it be covering?

Depends what you mean by 'indie', Kylie Minogue is an indie artist strictly speaking.

If you mean guitar based noise, that has originated from rock music, which can trace its lineage back to black music.

On that basis all music is of black origin as it can be traced back to early man dancing round a fire in caves in Africa and these would most likely have had dark coloured skin.

No, contemporary popular music is of, relatively recent, black origin.

There are plenty of other forms that aren't, classical, folk music, opera, C&W, celtic etc
