Well we are all aware of the example Walshy set and he did alright as a Captain :icon_wink

That is very true, a spout of 'team mate's wife bashing' didn't do anyone any harm, apart from maybe Spencer Prior.

He was a darned sight maturer than Stearman by the time he was made captain. I think the responsibility of captaincy would be far to great for Stearman and his game would be bound to suffer.

It wasn't Spencer Prior's wife though.

I would rather see Matt Oakley given the captaincy than Stearman.

Anyone but Clemance, worst captain in years at the club,

so, in conclusion, there is nobody at the club who deserves the captain's armband.

Stearman??? Hume??? WTF???

Exactly how important is the captaincy in football? In cricket it is an important position calling for a range of skills. But in football it doesn't mean anything much beyond tossing a coin and shaking the ref's hand, which one would hope most players are capable of. The hype around the England captaincy is one of THE most tedious things in modern football. In good teams the players know what they're supposed to be doing, and should be able to think for themselves if rearrangement is needed. They should also be able to perform without needing to be inspired by shouts of "c'mon!" or what have you.

In which case, no-one of them are bloody doing so. I didn't see one word of encouragement between the city players when the first went in on Saturday. No leader, no talking (a big part of football), no fecking clue

If he stays, I'd like to see Hendrie as captain next season.

Seeing as we haven't had a decent captain since Walsh or Elliott, and that coincided with one of our better spells, I'm surprised you need to ask the question.

It sounded like he was doing his upmost to get sent off on saturday when it was the last thing we needed.

No I think that was bad radio commentary! The incident that saw Stearman booked should actually have resulted in the opposing player getting booked. Shite reffing.
