I'm going to see the legendary Mozza tomorrow night at Tucson Music Hall. I think a few of you on here have seen him recently so I was wondering what to expect - any Smiths tunes? New stuff? Was he good?

I was a big Smiths/Morrissey fan as a teenager but I've never seen the great man live. I've been looking forward to see him, fat and middle aged, strut his stuff....

To report back:

It was very weird for me, personally. I couldn't really get my head around the whole thing, being a big Smiths fan from my sulky teens, but not having listened to Morrissey in years.

However, he was a huge presence on stage, I thought he was funny (I bet he's a completely insufferable tit in "real life" though), and his band were very tight, and clearly all high quality musicians. A somewhat rocking gig!

I think I will die a little more complete having experienced a live version of How Soon Is Now. And that's the best rendition I've ever heard by far - fantastic! It was also great to see some more Smiths songs performed live, such as The Boy with the Thorn in His Side, Girlfriend in a Coma and Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.

All in all, a highly entertaining, nay memorable night!

Did he take his shirt of Des?

That performance of How Soon Is Now is incredible isn't it?, did he have the big gong on stage, that was bloody loud. The guitar intro was also superb, along with the accompanying lighting.

Did he not sing William?

I took some video footage of Everday Is Like Sunday and watch it over and over again. Brilliant gig.

Aye :icon_conf I think he got through three shirts

Amazing stuff, really amazing. That bloody massive gong and the massive and very loud drum with the huge drumsticks... the drummer was actually very impressive. My mate reckoned he nearly stole the show on his own. Apparently used to be in the Smashing Pumpkins.

Did he not sing William?
Nope. Shame, that.

Brilliant gig.
Yep! A memorable night.
