I actually think not having Champions League football will be a blessing in terms of recruitment, our record last season showed that when we looked to step up to the next level, we struggled to attract real top drawer quality and actually ended up paying through the nose for players not cut out for the rigours of English football.
Musa, Mendy, Zeiler, Slimani and Hernandez have offered very little for the investment shelled out and I am looking forward to a summer where we look to invest in players with experience of English football with a hunger to prove something, and the odd rough diamond or experienced pro from abroad who will come in and add a spark.
Last seasons recruitment was such a dramatic step away from the policy that had made us so successful. I would move on all those signings from last summer and look to rebuild with the tried and tested model that has served us so well over recent years.
