My Mum likes Metallica until he starts singing. I've done he some of their instrumentals on CD, she's pushing 60

Some of their instrumetals are some of the most relaxing music i have ever herd, personally for me theres nothing better than when im monkied lying down and listening to Fade to Black and Nothing Else Matters!! My two favourite Metallica songs.
I take it you have S&M album with the orchestra, again i find this quite relaxing to listen to and is my favorite album!!

I used to love coming home from a pub or club in the late 80's pissed as a fart and sticking the headphones on full blast to the ....And Justice For All album.

Wasn't over keen on the S&M album, I thought it was a bit to string based, would have liked to have had more percussion, particularly bass drum

i supose its down to personal choice, if you prefer more of a beat to it and generally speaking the 'heavier stuff' then the S&M album is not for you, seeing as you have got Children of Bodom and Slayer near the top of your last.fm charts i can tell you like the heavier style.
I never really got into Metallica loads myself, i just herd it a lot cus most of my mates loved them and herd it round theirs, didn't mind it but loved the S&M album when i first herd it as im not what you would call a 'metaller'.
I was thinking more along the lines that your mother may like the S&M album.

Have you herd of a band called Down?? Im not into them, just one of my mates back home loves them, but whilst im thinking of relaxing music, one of their songs on their first album has one of the most relaxing guitar rifts i ever herd. Personally i think its amazing, especially how the rest of their album is what i would class as quite heavy and they can also pull something like that out as well.

she actually likes some of the intros to Sepultura songs. Although she likes some of this music, it just doesn't stand up to cliff or Elvis I'm afraid

I may just be thinking of this becuase you have mentioned Sepultura, but im sure theres a conection between them and Down.
Well my mate listens to all them kind of bands, but anyway there was a band who their lead singer got assasinated on stage i think and then the rest of the band formed another band. For some reason im thinking it was Sepultura that were the original band and Down the re-formed band.
Hopefully you can shed some light on this cus im really clutching at staws trying to remember what bands it is!!
