Look at the state of the club - it's miserable Durham, truly miserable. I've not really felt so disillusioned with the club as I do at the moment. And you can't buy small filbert the fox cuddly toys in the club shop anymore either. A complete fookin' mess of a club. Shameful. I'll support LCFC forever more but that doesn't mean I have to support the people pulling
the strings.

The board appointed Craig Levein (with much agreement from TB posters) and gave him the free reign to restructure this club as he saw fit. They armed him with a free hand to clear out the dead wood and backed him to bring in a raft of new blood. They underpinned this with a budget bigger than the vast majority of clubs in this division.

Whilst i agree with the point you are making DF, maybe the point JF is trying to make is that with the predicament we're currently toiling in, it would be nice if the board (or at least the so-called 'face' of the board) showed some backbone one way or another. Back him 100% publicly and it would stop a lot of the crap that is circulating at the moment. Or, be honest - as fans are not as naive as they would like to believe - and paint the picture as it truly as, we are in much deeper trouble than we thought/budgetted for during the summer.

I've made my feelings on the people who run our beloved club quite clear, but the things I won't criticise them for is meddling in affairs of the team, telling the manager how to run his club etc. Now running a business is a different matter altogether.....

If they are going to back him then IMO it has to be for the rest of the season, if they still believe he is the right man then it shouldnt be an issue, we can ill afford to be sat in a halfway house. I have to admit that I am disappointed that the board have not given Levein their public backing until the end of the season, and at least put an end to the speculation. I wanted him out, but now he is staying then he should do with the boards full backing.

It appears to me they dont want to be accused of backing the wrong horse and so are distancing themselves from Levein, and I find that appalling, they do not have to accept or condone our current position, they can acknowledge that is unsatisfactory but at the same time they can still back Levein and what he is trying to build and the difficult job he has undertaken and that he has their full support, and that they have every confidence in CL guiding the club to safety and building a decent platform for the following season. At the same time then they can appeal for the supporters to unite behind CL and the players for the rest of the season.

Simple as IMO, but I dont think the board want to publicly back the manager in case he fails, that is criminal.

It wouldnt surprise me the budget is reduced if anything as a buffer to help if relegated, I hope you are right tho that they may be tagging him along making him think he is safe but secretly trying to replace him, then they could sack and replace him in the space of a day.

If the fans want him out the way to do it is get at the board during the spurs game, this will make them react in some way, not necessairly sacking craig but should get a statement from them.
