I know what you are saying, but I live down here and I read / hear many articles and interviews with Davies, I also see / hear first hand the goings on at Preston, and that is why I appreciate what we have at Leicester, compared to PNE we are a massive club with fantastic resources and fanbase, if Davies can achieve what he has with PNE, despite the hindrances, then surely he will be confident of exceeding those achievements at a club with our potential.

As for not seeing the attractions of managing Leicester, and you stating you are not alone, I assume you are meaning other managers, as far as I can see, as yet we havent offered the job, Newell came for 2 interviews so he was keen, Cotterill would have been here in a flash but wasnt prepared to do the dirty on Burnley, and according to the Foxes Trust, Davies' agent approached the board and intimated that were he offered the position he would accept, but again as a man of principles he would not walk out on PNE.

IMO the only reason these clubs refused permission to talk with their managers was because they knew if given the opportunity they would accept, if not then surely all of them would have ruled themselves out and it would not have required an approach. Not one of these managers have actually stated that they dont want the job.

I have to say I find the whole thing amazing - that Davies would walk out (albeit potentially) of PNE to us, amazing.

Why ? Granted PNE are in an excellent position, but long term the opportunities and potential are better here, Davies has on numerous occasions questioned the ambition of the board and also shown dismay at the general poor support PNE recieve in terms of numbers.

Kelly is proving that with the right tactics, this squad is capable of winning football matches at this level, therefore this squad has proved it has potential, this coupled with the resources available will no doubt prove that the best long term opportunity would be Leicester.

As regards Newell, it is interesting that following a second interview, he wasnt offered the job, I am wondering whether following the news reported today that talks over Cotterills' new contract have stalled, perhaps the board got wind of this, and bearing in mind he is the first choice, that the board have maybe retargetted their search back towards the Burnley manager.

bloody hell pfk dont say that dont think i could put up with another week of managerial uncertainty :icon_roll :icon_lol:

TBH YV it is probably me putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 356.

Re: Jim Smith

I cant see Smith having the techical ability to provide the support that Kelly would need. Nah I think we could do better if thats the route we were to go down.

Not convinced Cotterill would be my choice in front of Newell. Cotterill has done a great job in making Burnley play to their strengths (unattractive, direct football) whereas Newell has fashioned a really good footballing team with less resource.

If he has such principles, why would he let everyone know that he'd be more than interested in coming here....???

Perhaps those "principles" should be tested.......just a thought......

.

Just like to correct this, our understanding via media contacts is that Davies & his assistant Dave Kelly are interested in coming to Leicester, however we have no idea if his agent made contact with the club

So the FT are in the dark as much as we are?

Sorry FT, If I misread your post, but I did remember you stating that through a third party Davies had intimated he would be keen.

No - it was me that said Davies had made his interest known at the club....and I also said at the time that I found it difficult to believe too!!!!!!

I would guess highland fox has hit the right nail. It would appear manager's turn up for interviews and expect to be told their is £xxxxxxx budget for new players but its probably more like £xxxxx and they are not keen on making their own money available.

I think out of all the successful managers in the championship davies has got to be the easiest we can lure but not until the summer, he is never going to walk away from theposition they are in now, but if they dont go up in the summer he will be available, also the fact we took hume and fryatt from under his nose is direct evidence to him our club has bigger pulling power for players.
