Exactly, I think that's when it all started to go downhill for him, especially after he got MOTM on his England debut.

I haven't listened either but I've read the article on the subject on the Guardian site. He basically says there that he's packing in because he can't get a game at the level where he'll feel valued. Not quite sure I understand that but it sounds a bit like the ramblings of a disturbed mind.
I'll always be thankful to him for his part in our story and hope he can get himself and his future sorted out.
