new lap top

Mother in law bought a toshiba lap top. Im assuming the software is pre installed as it normally is and there was no disc with it. I have switched it on and it powers up and you get the windows logo then it says installing press any key when you do you get x:\windows\systems 32> and thats it any ideas? please.

it sounds like it hasn't set up properly. You could probably sort it but it would be hassle and if she's only just bought it I'd take it back.
