New Laptop Recommendations

Can someone explain all the difference between, Atom, Intel core dual, all the others different processors, i saw a compat laptop last night which had bluetooth, 2 GB ram, 160 HD, HDMI, wireless, 15inch and i thought this is nice but it said Atom processor and i wasnt sure what it was.

The Atom is Intel's new mobile processor, the replacement for the Centrino M

I'm in the market for a new 'good all rounder' laptop that should see me through the next few years. My Toshiba Satellite Pro has served me well for the last 6 years but it's about had it now.

Found this which I can get for £460 from Dixons (with discount code FEB2). It seems a rather fine deal to my naive eyes. Any more sophisticated views would be welcomed?

Seems pretty good to me, though Acer do have a reputation for being a bit flimsy. I would go in and feel the build quality if I were you to see.

I bought a cheap Acer nearly 2 years ago and havn't had any problems with it apart from the dvd writer sometimes playing up when writing.

my in-laws bought one and had a usb socket stop working, the mouse pad pack up and the hard drive fail in a 6 month or so period. They took it back and got a new one after each break.
