i suppose it's evened itself out after that figurehead of scots, Mr Elliott has retired...

I've got a few mates who are Rangers fans and the general consesus is he is skillful but slow and weak in the challenge. If webbo's stats are right then it looks like he certainly could be weak, 5'11 and under 10 stone! He needs to go on the Pressman diet.

It is worry - 9 1/2 stone at 5'11" - he must be made of polystyrene - which means we cant play him in a strong wind.

i will coach him for a few weeks

After reading a few reports CL thinks he as got a real bargain and rates him very highly so that will do for me.Wouldn't be too worried about his weight..get a few Pies down him.

That's right - put him on the "Rodgers-Pressman" diet... he'll soon fill out

Some reactions from Old firm fans from a messageboard i frequent.

"he's a decent player, way too frail to make it in scotland though. I can't say i was ever terrified when i saw them bringing him on against us"

"Celtic fan here, Hughes is a decent footballer, good passer and will score a few goals from midfield. His problem though is he's lightweight. Easily brushed off the ball and unsettled by a firm challenge which can lead to him going missing for large parts of the match."

"I rate Hughes but as others have said, he is a bit lightweight, but he's not afraid to go into hard challenges. Good passer and will pop up with a few goals."

"Hughes is a good player but as said too lightweight for the SPL. Always had hopes he would bulken up a bit and then he would have done well for us i think. Should be a good signing for you anyway"

"Potentially a very good player if he can progress at City, very good on the ball good passer just not physical enough, also lacks pace"

"When he first came through at Rangers it was thought he'd go all the way but he's been the victim of the usual problem with youngsters at OF teams in that he has never had regular first team football due to injurys, whenever he was doing well in the first team he'd get an injury and by the time he was fit again whoever the player was he replaced on the first team would be back from injury. I'll be watching his progress with interest over the comming seasons"

Sounds like Levein needs to get him down the gym, but other than that sounds like a good buy for 100k. Also how refreshing is it to see a new player universally described as 'good on the ball'.

What a signing!!! 3 1/2 year contract, 22 years & what we need most... a midfielder who can get forward, take on a player, create & pop up with goals. Oh and for a bargain £100k which I'm sure will add upto £200k eventually. I guess as we all know it's a gamble on a player that seems abit injury prone, but for £100k.... Terrific!

I've seen him play for Rangers on telly before now & thought he looks a lively intelligent player.

Quite crazy too because I just signed the guy for LCFC on Championship manager last week. Well if CM is anything to go by.. Centre Back Michael Nelson of Hartlepool is next...

re was anyone else in for him, the answer to that is a resounding "no!" but simply because until ferguson actually returned to castle greyskull, i doubt he was available. Rangers had high hopes for him and he IS a classy player. I think he'll do really well down there- from what I've soon of your division it's not as rough and tumble as the SPL and that'll suit him down to the ground

Perhaps Levein will bring back "The Flying Cheeseburger" to train him in the fine art of gaining weight.

Give him 6 months & he'll be "The Great Flying Scot McWhopper"

"It was something which happened at the last minute but we've managed to get one of the most talented players in Scotland for an absolute steal."

Izzet was hardly a giant...not that I am making comparisons.

According to the birmingham site izzet is 10st3lbs so Hughes is an inch taller and 11 lbs lighter. That is one skinny dude! Hopefully pork pies and red leicester will do the job that battered mars bars and scotch pies couldn't!
