Two massive selling albums with various sold out shows would beg to differ. At the same time, a rise in a public buying album's. The late 90's of boy bands and RnB nearly killed off the album in record stores.

Maybe Radiohead are making a point of shitting on the industry after being shat on at the very start of their career,
 
So anyway, how much are people going to pay for this or are we all going to download it for nowt???

A band with mainstream success will make money from all sorts of stuff, not just record sales. More obscure bands will rely on gigging and record sales, and if you take away a big source of their revenue they may never be able to afford to give up their day jobs and end up giving up.

If Radiohead hadn't there may not be a lot of other bands around,including Vega 4 perhaps.
