I wonder if our deal with FBS will be affected by this? After all, it's just posh betting.

I don't think FBS is technically classed as betting even though it really is.

WHU had to play sponserless in Europe last week whereas we didn't so I think we might be OK.

Does anyone know who our shirt sponsor is? I know it's FBS but who the feck are they?

I was pondering on this today. I recall when the publicity for the deal was announced, the name of their CEO was Yulia Ivanova. She appears to be Ukrainian but based in Russia which is unfortunate. Looking her up online seems to indicate that she's not with them anymore though.

The company appears to be Cyprus based but the company that's behind them Tradestone Ltd also appear to have gone out of business. It's main director was a guy called Chris Makridis but, again, it's far from clear whether he's still involved.

At a time when murky shit is being looked at more than usual, I wonder whether we're whoring ourselves out to a dodgy organisation?

Nope, can’t find anything recent. Never heard of them.

Russian companies are moving their operations to Cyprus.

Been going on for a long time.

Looks like most of their senior employees are Russian.

The owner appears to be American though. Someone called Aaron Johnson.

Strange set up. Finances are all run through Cyprus.

What a ****ing ridiculous idea. People gamble on one level because it’s a fun and harmless pastime that they enjoy. People gamble on another level because they are addicted to it. Neither of those groups are going to stop doing so because their football team changes shirt sponsor from some Asian betting firm the know nothing about to Cancer Research UK.

You're forgetting about making gambling visible and normal, which helps capture new people. There's also the access that goes hand in hand with sponsorship, on the small scale the gambling booths at football grounds belong to sponsors, on the bigger scale regulations and laws are written by lobbyists and party donors

****ing bull shit

I think the FBS company that that Mr Johnson owned was a (now defunct) realtors in Pennsylvania, though probably more reputable than "ours".

Nothing mysterious about FBS (LCFC) operating out of what is probably an accommodation address in Cyprus. Malta and Gibraltar are also full of brass plate operations which benefited from an EU base as such.

Probably a lack of [any] due diligence on LCFC's part, as with so many others, but it would be nice if they actually do something to give full disclosure on this link, rather than the no doubt heartfelt flag waving solidarity on show yesterday.
