DOB 22/04/1974 CLUB WEST BROMWICH ALBION

HEIGHT 1.88m POSITION DEFENDER

WEIGHT 96kg SQUAD NUMBER 5

PROFILE

Crowd favourite Moore provides a massive physical and personal presence in the centre of the Baggies' defence. The Birmingham-born player returned to his native midlands after a £750,000 transfer from Portsmouth. Big Dave, as he was christened by the Hawthorns crowd, is a favourite with the fans thanks to his committed approach.

I think he'll be a great signing. Bit of experience and scores a few aswell.

Sounds like a bit of an oldie to me, but I like the word committed...of course that doesn't equate to good!

I never said that :D

i know, i wrote in the wrong space.

I don't think I have said hello yet, so in time honoured tradition, hello and Welcome to TalkingBalls...the premiership of forums ;-)

I think Darren Moore would be a good signing, however I wouldn't give him more than a 2 year contract. Give him a release clause so that if we achieve promotion during these 2 years, then he leaves the club.

But what would be the motivation for playing well for us then?

If he always has it in his mind that if we achieve promotion he is out of a job you won't get a performance out of him...Micky signed half of this years squad on one year, no further commitment to the club deals...look how that turned out, all we have to show are a bunch of wasters and journeymen picking up their wages.

Levein wants long term stability, we need players who know they are in it for the long haul. But I would argue that there is a place for some old heads in the team, one of the things I agreed with Micky over is that you can't get out of this league by just playing kids...of course this doesn't mean everyone we sign has to also be entitled to a bus pass(micky took himself far too literally on this strategy)
