Local derbies aren't scheduled for Boxing Day for financial reasons.

Derbies get big crowds, so do boxing day games. If they had a derby on Boxing Day there would just be one big attendance instead of two.

Hinckley vs Nuneaton was always boxing day ;)

At that level they try to give teams local derbies on Boxing Day, presumably they're more interested in what's best for fans than the bigger leagues are.

Anybody else wish City were non-league sometimes?

The Metro stops at Gateshead. I think a day ticket is only about £3.90

Gateshead metro is futher away than St James from the Travelodge, you can get buses numbers 47 and 10 from there......Know that much, probably more than that. Buses on that route will cost you £3.50 for a day ticket, probably cheaper in singles though.

I've already booked a day off on the Sunday for this. Can't get that day back now. Wankers. ****ing hate Sky with a ****ing passion. Arseholes. *****. Shitfaces.

Surely it'd made sense to wait for Sky/BBC to announce their live gamed before booking anything off? Sorry, but you have no sympathy here.

I believe you can get arrested for that.

Wait, this is England where it's legal to get a beer to five year olds

... except on Earls Court Road when you're with a tall blond kid.

I actually persuaded the family that we should have 5 nights in beautiful Northumberland as an end of August summer holiday with a crafty plan to have a look around Newcastle on 29th... "goodness me, would you believe that co-incidence, yes dear, you can pay on the gate - you carry on shopping, I'll see you back at the hotel". The good news is that we'll still be there on the Monday night, but I'm going to have to come clean about the reason why we're not in the Mediterranean....

Good luck paying on the gate...

My plan is much better than that... of course I'll have my ticket in my wallet, but I couldn't pretend a coincidence if I suddenly waved a ticket at the wife.. hence my claim that I can pay on the gate. Cor blimey, you lot are begginers at this stuff...

Can't see why it would be a problem, I've paid on the gate there before when the capacity was about 20,000 lower than it is now and the match wasn't on TV.

It'll be different this year - all the youngsters who've never been to an away match will want to jump on this one. But anyway it's moot, because it appears SF is a crafty bugger.

Good luck paying on the gate...

If he's in so deep that he's made up a fake trip to get to the game, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't chance paying on the gate. I'd imagine he'll get a ticket well before the match - crafty sod!
