There are players that have proven themselves Premier League standard in the past, but are currently playing at championship level.

Ndidi, Barnes, Castagne, Perez all spring to mind. Albrighton too, but thats an age thing.

However, case to be made that Ward, Thomas, Faes, Amartey, Daka are not of the required quality.

And that's the real story. We have some players that simply aren't good enough; Amartey, Thomas (although he could be), Daka, Perez (although he's a decent squad option) but we also have players that are excellent and have proved this time and time again.

These players haven't just become rubbish overnight so why are they all shadows of themselves? Well, to get the answer you have to look at the things that connect them all and they are the manager and the way they are coached.

Look at the difference new management and coaching made to some of the players in our opposition tonight; Almiron, Wilson etc... These have been given a new lease of life.
