Fecking piss poor stewardship of the club if you ask me, what is the point of introducing a budget then allow the manager to exceed that budget by signing 2 defenders that at the time we probably didnt need. Says to me that we still havent learnt from the mistakes of the past, we then proceed to start terminating contracts of players in some sort of desperate attempt to claw the situation back.

I can still see one or two players being sold before the closure of the transfer window, and I certainly wouldnt be surprised to see a repeat of the Connolly transfer last season where we offload a player at the last minute and frantically attempt to replace them on the final day.

The current statements coming out of the club and the recent action undertaken is now starting to cause more than a little concern as to our true financial position.

I couldn't agree more, hence my comments on Hamill and Gerrbrand being offloaded and the lack of reserve team. Smacks of desperation!

Can we be a little more optimistic please.

Hamill was less than useless and needed to go, there was no point having him linger around the place picking up wages and getting no where near the first team.

RK clearly felt that PG wasn't up to championship style football. RK has brought Gareth McAuley in on a free who he feels is up to the job and will replace PG.

Maybe the plan was to get a fee for PG, it didn't happen so they agreed to cancel his contract. PG is happy, LCFC are happy. We haven't released a player with no suitable back up.

We all know the precarious position that this club is in, this year is probably the worst since the administration season.

We also know how well the team can perform when we are right behind them, lets start the season with full blooded optimisim and support rather than this negativity.

optimism with leicester? that would probably be a first

As has been said 852 times already, the loss of the reserve team fixtures was NOT the idea of Rob Kelly or anyone at LCFC - the Prem clubs ganged up and booted out everyone who was not in the Prem. I get the impression that the club is pretty upset about it.

If a "spin off" league isn't or can't be created, then the footballing world is in a shambles and the words piss, up and brewery should be applied to any sentance that involves these clubs or the bodies that govern them

We can create our own reserves league simple enough IMO. With the exception of Aston Villa, there are a lot of "local" clubs who aren't in the Premiership. We could set up a "Midlands" reserves league.

1. Leicester City
2. Birmingham
3. Wolves
4. West Brom
5. Walsall
6. Kidderminster
7. Northampton
8. Rushden
9. Coventry
10. Lincoln
11. Boston
12. Derby
13. F**est :icon_wink
14. Notts County
15. Mansfield
16. Stoke

Here are all teams that are within a couple of hours drive from each other. Surely we can set up our own reserves league amongst ourselves?

The decision not to put the reserves into another league was the club's though.

But as they said at the time, the other leagues are larger than the prem was, even before accomodating the "reject" clubs, meaning more fixtures, most against much weaker opposition. The club didn't want that - too many occasions when the reserves & first team fixtures are too close together. That's a big problem with the smaller squads most clubs like us now operate on - too much travelling with insufficient recovery time between games, and disrupted training schedules, especially at times when there are injuries or suspensions in the first team.

That was also the main reason the big boys gave for dumping us out - if they find leagues of a dozen clubs too big with their resources then that is magnified for clubs in our position.

That was again one of the reasons the old Combination / Central (aka Pontins) set-up was broken up a few years back.

Plus most of the regulars in the reserves are already playing in the youth leagues.

As I recall they did say that there might be a possibility at some point of forming a small league or ssome other tournement made up of similar status clubs within reasonable distance, but that would depend on the others wanting it. Let's hope something comes of that, cos I can't see any other way we are going to see much of the reserves in action otherwise.

You put a very persuasive argument - and, if I may say so, much more understandable than that which I read from the club.

I do hope some solution can be found. The downside is that any solution is likely to be relatively local in its organisation and people who live in the north and south of the country will no longer get a chance to watch the reserves.
