Pitch became very benign indeed.

A comfortable draw in the end and good to see Dippenaar batting well - I don't think that either of these sides are going to do a lot of damage this season.

The pattern of the match suggests that we are going to be very dependent on a few senior batters - Ackerman, Nixon, Dippenaar supported by Allenby.

A J Harris is a decent journeyman bowler but we had nothing else in this game other than the reliable, metronome left arm of Henderson. I hope that the O'Brien situation is sorted out and that he and Malik will provide the basis for some sort of attack in championship games.

The inexperienced and unproven young players should give us at least enthusiasm and energy in the shorter versions but I think the results will be modest there too.
