Leicester City today unveiled Status Quo as their headline act for the opening night of the first ever live two-day Foxes Music Festival.
The legendary rockers, based around the evergreen talents of Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, will play to an expected 14,000 capacity audience at the Walkers Stadium on Wednesday, June 1.
The UK rock band, who have produced music such as ‘Rockin’ All Over the World’ and ‘Whatever You Want’, have sold over 100 million albums, and notched up 50 British Hits (more than any other band, ever!).
Quo, who are performing as part of their 40th anniversary tour, will be joined on the evening by The Jones Gang.
The band are fronted by former Faces and The Who drummer Kenney Jones and also include Rick Wills, of Small Faces and Foreigner and Bad Company’s Robert Hart on lead vocals.
Guest guitarists have included Ronnie Wood, of the Rolling Stones, Dave “Bucket” Colwell, Gary Grainger and Richie Barrett.
The announcement comes only days after big name chart acts such as Brit winner Lemar, Darius and Liberty X were named in the line-up for the second live showpiece at the Walkers on Thursday, June 2.
City’s operating manager Graham Gilmore is delighted that the club has been able to secure the services of another top name group.
He said: “It is another major coup for the football club especially as the Quo are only playing at a limited number of venues across the country this summer.
“The Quo are legends in their own right and the club have no doubts that they will appeal to both the young and old generations.
“They just seem to keep on rockin’ and now the Leicester public have a chance to be a part of that success.
“I am sure The Jones Gang will also prove to be a massive hit especially as Kenney himself has a wealth of experience behind him,” Gilmore added.
Rock-lovers will be able to watch the acts perform live on stage from protected pitch level or from lower level seating on three sides of the stadium.
Tickets start at £20 and rise to £32.50 for front row seats.
For an additional £5 fans can enjoy the comfortable surroundings of one of the club’s corporate lounges before and after the showpiece.
Tickets and information are available from the ticket hotline on
08700 66 77 33 (booking fees will apply) or visit: www.ticketline.co.uk (booking fees will apply).
Lines open at 9am on Monday, April 4, please do NOT call the LCFC ticketline.
To purchase in person, tickets are available from the Leicester Tourist Information Centre, Town Hall Square, Leicester.
