What time are you setting off for Peterborough on Saturday?

Is it really an 'open question'? Seems quite specific to me. :icon_wink

It is my understanding that an open question is one which leaves open a full range of choices of reply. It seems to me that my question does exactly that.

It is also an open question in the sense that it was made 'in the open'/in public. Just as an 'open message' is one that is sent to an individual but is designed for the sight of a more general and wider audience.

A closed question would be different; might only have a single answer; or might seek to guide the responder along a certain path. In this case, a closed question would be something like:

Hi BG (to get him off-guard). I've heard a rumour that you're going to set off for Peterborough just after 12 on Saturday. Now you and I know the game kicks off at 12, so to set off at the that time would be ridiculous - by the time you've parked and walked to the ground, it would be well into the second half. The rumour is obviously untrue, isn't it?

how the feck did he win all those TB awards then.

Because he organised those awards and no fecker could be arsed voting in them.

I've not been here long but his standard of threads has declined in that short time. :icon_wink

No, no, they've always been that bad.

Is he luring us into a false sense of security and just when we think Joe fox will never start a good thread again he'll pop up with an absolute corker?

'Again'??? :102:

I know Bob, but it's Monday morning and I'm just in a contrary mood.

You appear to be suggesting that Boy Genius doesn't live up to his pseudonym. It seems like you're just trying to make someone look silly. Which I applaud thusly:
