Lots of focus has been placed on the attack and defence this season, but for me the real problem is Midfield-it hasn't been settled all season, and I don't think Pearson knows who his strongest line up is. Oakley and Wellens seem to be no-brainers (though some may contest that) but apart from that no-one seems to be doing a job

Gallagher is clearly not a winger, and looks a lot better when playing through the middle, but this then sacrifices either Wellens or Oakley's talents

King is a good passer of the ball and looked good in the 3-1 system at times, but still has a tendency to give the ball away in stupid areas

N'Guessan and Dyer both look out of their depth-i haven't seen either beat a man or put in a decent cross all season

Adams has never done much to impress me, but i haven't seen a lot of him and i know some have been pleased with the contributions he has made

For me i would play a diamond. Wellens in aholding role, Gallagher a little more advanced, then a scrap between Oakley, N'Guessan, Dyer and Adams for the wide roles.

I agree with your conclusion about the diamond.

I guess all the excitement about Wellens has made the midfield less of a target for negative comments.

Not a bad idea, but the main worry is our full backs, who are not the quickest will get exposed if Oakley and N'guessan play the wide roles

Today Dyer did beat players, and put in several good balls, so that part of your post is no longer relevant.

No he didn't. the one cross i remember him putting in was a crap floater, and being played in down the wing is different to taking a ball round a man and beating him for pace.

I'd like to know what the **** Adams has done not been given the same playing time as Dyer and N'Guessan. He was superb against Sheff Yoo and looked the part in other sub appearances.

Perfect. Totally agree. Mostly down the right hand side. We need a pacey tricky RB.

But untill we find then next Cafu, someone that can simply run, takle and pass with some degree of ability would do.;)

DUH!!! Don't you know anything Ringo?
lestatillicry, who knows more about football than all of us put together, says that Oakley must never, ever be played wide.

Morrisson is the player to replace nielsen at full back. he's more domineering has a good touch and more pace.
We need to get back to playing with width so that the other side have to take more care to look after our wingers. dyer is our best left winger and should start. N'Guessan should not, he was abysmal yesterday.
I'm not sure what the answer is in centre midfield as we have no 'combative' shielding player to protect the back four and give Wellens the licence toplay the ball left right and forward - we just have artisans who don't close down or fancy a fifty fifty - we need one of those on loan - sharpish.

Waghorn looks a prospect for me as does Gallagher, but if we can't figure out how to use them without disrupting the overall shape of the side then they are going to do more harm than good to our season.

Lots of questions raised - lets hope Nigel stumbles across the answer!

Look, as long as Oakley isn't dropped at all....it took til the 90th minute for us to get a corner at the Kop end the side we were sat... the only chance we had to stare at his arse when he bent over to place the ball.............more than made up for the crap we had watched all game!

I'd like to see Adams get his chance, when he has played this season he's been more than capable so would play him from the start instead of one of the other two 'wingers'.
Plus if he has to move to the middle he doesn't shirk tackles, unlike someone else who plays occasionally this season.

Still not seen enough of Adams to suggest he should be picked ahead of anyone else..... Although our other wingers have been poor lately so he could get his big break. What do we do with 'em?

I'm in turmoil here.

 really???

Sarcasm surley?!

A good 20 minutes against the Swans and thats about it, I can't remember him doing owt else in the home games this season.

I hear he was good at Sheff yoo but I can't comment.

Clearly a much better player than a year ago. Why Gallagher and N'Guessan are being played out of position ahead of him is beyond me. I'm not about to claim I know better than NP though.
