i was worried about this before the first game. every player interviewed commented that there was loads of ball work going on from day one and less emphasis on running and fitness. thats great if all you want to do is have fun but you will get turned over by any team if you arnt fit.

Fitness and good organisation are key to a successful side, look at all the teams that are successful they are hard working, play at high tempos and have a pattern of play that bests suits the resources available.

Now I am not going to call for RK's head, FFS it was one bad defeat after all, but I am very concerned with what I witnessed and it has sown some pretty big seeds of doubt as to whether this season can / or will be any improvement on last season.

The truth is pre season is about building your squad up to be the fittest in the league and if you can win the physical battles then footballing ability will then rise to the top. Based on yesterday we look ill equipped to win many if any physical battles. And that will be RK's fault, he is the man who with advice from his backroom team is responsible for preparing the players for the rigours of a full season and if these players are not properly prepared then the buck has to stop with Kelly.

the team do alot of fitness work thought out the week and yes alot of ball work too they even mix the two which is the nor through out the football work the thing which sticks out to me is that we have yet to find the right balance ,weather this is to do with the new coach i dont know or it mite of been that they have worked them too hard and where very tired due to this which mite be why they played so bad im going to see what i can find out next week if i see the said coach i dont get to see them all the time only every now and then

:icon_lol: I am beginning to like this scapegoat malarky, I mean surely it is better for me to recieve the stick than a group of honest, hard working and committed professional footballers who have just sweat blood for the cause :icon_conf

you'd be absolutely right if the last part of your post was anywhere near the mark which, on yesterdays display, it patently isn't.

So, Leicester now own the rights to this shambolic behaviour do they. Well I say sell the patent to our competitiors and see if they would like to develop our style of football, and indeed, try to take it one step further

There was more than a touch of irony in my post :icon_wink

Spot on about the lack of fitness. It was extraordinary that anyone would think that they were ready for the season. Very worrying approach from RK. Unlike many others, I'm not overly concerned about the formation, personnel etc as a lack of fitness makes all that irrelavent.

In terms of a new season, you have to hit the ground running. Luton did the same last year. They started very sharply and got into a good position, then tired and faded later on because their squad was tiny. Our better players looked the worst yesterday (Stearman, Fryatt and Hume in particular). RK must be thinking that they should build up their fitness as the season develops. The last manager I can recall that thought the same was Pleat. We don't have enough quality to compete at 70% fitness levels. It's pretty arrogant and out of touch to think we have.

Also ,if it's true that Stearman was out getting pished after that performance as said elsewhere, then that's the second really worrying thing about RK in one day.

Fitness and discipline - pretty basic parts of the job Rob.

I am sorry, but if I saw a player out on the piss, and I mean the piss, I would say something to the tosser.
