Our three 'will-of-iron' characters?

I'm reading the excellent biography of Sven by Joe Lovejoy which I picked up for a couple of quid in a charity shop in town.

In it he says 'Eriksson's modus operandi is to have a cadre of three will-of-iron characters, 'winners' is his [Sven's] description, capable of carrying the team with them through sheer force of personality whenever the going gets tough.'

Eriksson himself says, " I would say you need a core of three players with these qualities in a team."

Who do YOU think in our squad fits the bill?

I reckon Wellens, Abe and King.....

One season too late, methinks - plenty of character last season - I think Bruno reappeared in a match with a bandage round his head, a la Butcher, Ince etc .... for all their abilities, putting forward King, Wellens and Abe as "will of iron" characters is just taking the piss.

Not sure I see the Andy King inclusion either. Agree with Wellens, don't really know enough about Abe. Thought there was some potential, in this respect, for Hobbs but, as with Berner and Howard, he's not had the impact this season. What about the new signings? Davies maybe? Certainly not scared of speaking his mind. I suspect our will-of-iron men are yet to come.

What I want to know is are the current lot a 'smashing bunch of lads' or not?

I certainly hope we're redoubling our efforts after a defeat. Even smashing bunches of lads need to redouble efforts in defeat.
