my dad is after a computer/laptop for christmas, he would be using it for browsing and general stuff, ive been told by a neighbour to avoid laptops (he works in IT), should they be avoided or is he talking out of his bumcheeks?? has anyone got any ideas/recommendations?? i would say the maximum budget would be no more than £350??

oh, and it has to be easy to use?!?!?

You will get more for your money with a desktop than you will with a laptop. But it's a bit of a bugger setting up a desktop on the train.

Has your father got a space which he can permanently spare for a desktop? Will he want to use the computer in other places?

But how much will he get for his money with a desktop?:102:

I'm looking for a nice cheap desktop too

No gaming, no heavy downloading

Just basic surfing and production of documents

All help gratefully received

Check Tesco, I got my laptop from their and it was cheaper than elsewhere, they also have some desktops for around £300

ie

although I'd probably recommend this one at £360 if you can stretch as you will notice the extra RAM with Vista (though to be honest it would also be worth checking how much it would be to upgrade the RAM yourself, it might be less than the extra £60)

Toys r us have some good deals in my experience.

If you don't mind recon stuff but want a higher spec for your money then try europc.co.uk. I got mine from there a few years back and it has been excellent.

Personally, I'd look at Dell.

That's a v ery nice website, and I'm sure the correct pc for my needs may well be on there

But this is a Joe Fox type query

I want you to tell me which model to buy, and where to buy it from. I then want you to drive me down to the shop to buy it, hold my willy whilst I use their toilet facilites, and then drive me home and set it up for me

Do you have a monitor or would you need one? If so how big??

Thank you kindly, I shall take it under consideration

But I note that it is a delivery service, so when will you get to hold my willy ?

It's funny because it's true.....
