I have a spare PC that I had loaned to a friend - it keeps switching itself off, no warning on the screen, nothing. Any ideas what the problem could be ??

It could be overheating, or the power supply could be on it's way out, or you might keep kicking the plug and turning it off ;)

perhaps it's concerned about climate change

It boots up ok, works for about 10 mins and then just powers off.
No error messages when it powers down? I had a PC that was overheating and turned itself off, but an error message was displayed due to a "thermal event".

I have to warn the missus about my thermal events sometimes otherwise she gets all narky.

My old one never used to. Judging by the fact she leant it to a friend I'm guessing it's not a newer PC. If she can't boot it straight back up I would guess at an overheating problem.

no error messages and it boots straight back up... it was ok until someone took it apart a while back

Probably either a faulty fan or someone disconnected a fan when it was taken apart and did't reconnect it.

Fan = overheating which IMO would take a while after shutdown to cool down enough to reboot. Sounds like you might have put the RAM back in dodgy.

Considering it must be 3 years since I did it, I doubt it's aything to with anyone opening the case up.
