I'm planning a day out in the Peak District with Mrs G. Looking for some scenic walking maybe find a cheap pub with a roaring fire and excellent food.

Don't think I'm being too picky. :icon_lol:

Does anyone have any ideas / recommendations?

I have just spent the weekend in Castleton, walking over Mam Tor to edale and back on the Saturday. We had an awesome time, the road over little Mam Tor is worth a walk, the landslip is really worth a wander. The Peak Inn was a good night out too.

Castleton has a few pubs all of which are really good, cosy places. Mam Tor is a good climb and very straight forward for beginners. Theres plenty of caves nearby- blue john is good and has a really good tour.

Dovedale is another pretty location if your are camping, and theres plenty of trout to be seen when the may flies hatch out in the next few months.

If you want somewhere a bit bigger Bakewell is very nice, as is Buxton.

Be careful of loose rocks...
