ive been sorting through some old papers and i came across a pension statement from a previous employer dating back to 2000, would i be able to claim any of my monies paid into it or not also not sure if this matters or not but theyve changed company name a few times since 2000..

Company name won't matter.

And it depends how long you worked there before leaving.

i joined the scheme in 1997 but i think i started there in 95 and took redundancy in 2002 (?)

You need to contact the actual pension company. The monies you paid in should still be frozen gaining interest and would be available for withdrawal when you reach pensionable age.

I've got a few like this and I was advised to keep them frozen or transfer them to my current scheme.

However, it's such a palaver transferring them, I've kept them as they are - frozen until I retire.

The option of receiving the monies I've contributed has never been mentioned though
