My particular favourite subject at the moment is how people are concerned with much money we are said to be offering for certain players. It's not as if it's coming out of our pockets, the fans.

The LCFC owners are extremely successful businessmen and I'm sure they know how much they can and can't afford.

Let them worry about that, we can concentrate on sitting back and enjoying the ride.

Excellent sum up, for me.

This is incredibly exciting times for the club.

I sure would rather be us than for example Cov / Derby who are staring down the barrel of Championship dungeon bottom half football mediocrity for the next 'x' amount of years.

And how would that improve the squad? Surely improving and strengthening the squad would mean getting Whittingham whilst keeping our best players. Unless a stupid offer comes in, I don't see why we can not have them both.

Dunno - I have a gut feeling based on his selections towards the end of the season, that Sven may not see Andy King as indispensable. He seemed to fall away after the loan signing of the Yak - this could indicate that King fits well in some systems and not in others.

I'm not predicting anything......just a thought that's all.

Possibly, but it would seem a bit of a U-turn after he appeared to fall over himself in his rush to get King signed up to a renewed contract only a few months ago

That could be said of most players tho, they aren't going to fit into every system. You need a squad full of players that can be mixed and matched and changed according to the opposition, formation, tactics, changes in game etc.

I see your point, but I cant see how, if Sven wants to improve the squad and get promotion, that selling our highest scorer is the way to do it. And I don't think that financially we need to either, not anymore.

Didn't king sign a new contract under Sven?

Beighton - you know very well that contracts are often offered to secure a better potential transfer fee.

For a player with a significant market value its the right thing to do.

I really am not saying King will be sold - I just have the feeling that Sven may think that he can strengthen that part of the squad and it could lead to letting King go.

I'm sure we can spend 3-4 million on one player, but I'm not naive enough to think that we will be spending that amount on 3 or 4 signings each!

Agreed.

To be honest, I think we'll probably spend that on one signing then bits and bobs on others, the majority of what is happening is paper talk anyway. The club hasn't commented on any specualtion/potential signings that I'm aware of.

On another note, is the reason Neville is commenting on all new signings because Sven is currently out of the country, or is this the new club policy? Does anyone know?
