Villa Match Ratings

Henderson 8 - Kept us in it with a couple of good saves and one superb one from Barry in extra time

Maybury 7 - solid enough and did his job

Kisnorbo 8 - Excellent, played as well against Baros as he does in the Championship

McCauley 8 - One vital mistake aside looked comfortable on the ball and strong in defence.

Johansson 9 - Superb, so good Agbonlahor was moved to their left side to create something.

Sylla 8 - Application, effort, touch and looked like he might be arsed. Probably won't on Saturday mind.

Wesolowski - 9 Worked his bollocks off and pulled the strings for us

Stearman - 9 Worked his bollocks off and looked good in centre midfield.

Welsh - 7 Tried hard and caused a couple of problems but didn't really cause Hughes too many problems

Hume - 8.5 Worked so hard it was unbeliveable, little support but looked our best bet going forward.

Hammond - 8 Effort and workrate gives him an 8 but he's still lacking at that level, on the other hand he looks much much better than last year.

Subs

Low 6 - and thats for effort, the rest was frankly poor.

Kenton 7 - Did well against their most dangerous player (Agbonlahor) when he came on.

Adihambo 6 - Just out of his depth but can't fault his enthusiasm or workrate.

Henderson saved 4 shots to keep us in it.

Henderson 9

Maybury 5 - Too slow, wants too much time on the ball
Johansson 8 - Played the Abgohwhore perfectly
Kisnorbo 6
Maculay 6 - They both got turned too easy for my liking, the pair werent the best with the first goal

Sylla 6 - Will Run, Cant Run
Welsh 7 - He looks to take on players and cant fault him for a lack of effort
Wesolowski 8
Stearman 8 - Both of them started off a touch too eager but got better as the game went on, Petrov didnt shine in the middle as expected

Hammond 8 - He done his job well, holded the ball up and ran lost causes, its just a shame no-one ran off him.
Hume 8 - With better service, he would have scored last night. I liked his elbow directed to Petrov when shooting just wide.

Low 4 - Not good enough, cant beat a man, I was suspect to him at Hinckley, where he had no pace and couldnt beat a man
Kenton 6 - Well Enough
Obhiambo 6- Ran for the cause but the service of long balls was never suit him

Re: Villa Match Ratings

Henderson - 8 - great penalty save and two fantastic saves after that in extra time, couldn't do anything with the last goal as it was deflected past him.

Maybury - 6 - anonymous mostly, which I suppose is no bad thing, he didn't make any glaring errors, when moved to midfield he seemed to think that mean standing 2-yards in front of Kenton.

Kisnorbo - 6 - some moments of brilliance, great tackles and stealing the ball from player's feet, followed by some moments of idiocy, at his best he was an 8, at his worst a 4.

McAuley - 6 - not as varied a performance as Kisnorbo, but still had some good and bad moments, his passing was atrocious but he made a few good interceptions

Johansson - 8 - very good game, showed that he is used to Prem players as he did when we played Spurs, a few wayward passes but a lot of good work to make up for them.

Sylla - 5 - most of what my brother and I said to each other during the match was 'don't give it to Momo', but they always did, far too many of the balls went to him and usually he couldn't cope with that. The effort and passion was there though, which I'm happy for, but there was very little skill. Didn't beat a man once.

Wesolowski - 9 - MOTM - phenomenal performance, was everywhere on the pitch tackling, putting in good passes, shooting (heh, badly..), never stopped, absolutely wonderful to watch and my highlight of the match.

Stearman - 7 - lively but uncomfortable, was missing a lot of the time in midfield, made a few good tackles when players were running down the wing but I'm not sure he did much work as a midfielder as regards passing or tackling. Not his fault he was playing out of position, he certainly didn't disgrace himself. Good goal, but why he didn't put more power on that header in the dying minute I don't know. Was devastated at the end - but will feel ok when on big bucks in the Prem under Martin.

Welsh - 5 - as with the Palace game, he started off well but faded quickly and it was right that he was taken off when he was. The first 10 or so minutes he was lively but their fullback soon had his number.

Hume - 7 - typical Hume never-say-die performance, beautiful commitment to the cause, constantly running and trying things, but not many chances on goal (not just his fault).

Hammond - 7 - held up play very well and was missed, IMO, when he went off. But as Hume's performance was typical-Hume, this performance was typical-Hammond with dangerous running but little to show for it in shots on goal.

Subs:

Low - 4 - Poor. Won more headers than Welsh but still couldn't get around to put a cross in. Absolutely stupid to loft the ball back into the box in the way that he did.

Odihambo - 5 - He had that one good moment when he got around their fullback and made a good chance, which shows that he has potential, but it was a baptism of fire and he didn't really get a proper ball to kick all night. Hope this experience works in his favour and he doesn't drop off the radar for the rest of the season.

Kenton - 6 - solid performance when he came on, made no mistakes, didn't have a chance to do anything attacking as he usually would.

Henderson 8 - Kept us in the game with the penalty save and that one he tipped over the bar, partly to blame for the third goal.
Stearman 9- Did well in his new position showed passion and

Agree with your ratings Dunc although I woould have only given Welsh a 6 as he is great at running with the ball but always runs out of steam and doesn't look up to cross the ball.
