Foul and abusive language is indeed a red card offence according to the laws of association football.

You'd get a red card from me for that. After I'd stopped laughing. I was basically taught to allow players swearing at themselves ("I can't ****ing believe I missed that piss easy shot") but to punish them using swear words or racial, sexual or homophobic language at each other (including teammates) and to punish absolutely anything directed at myself or the assistants.

Of course, there's always a debate about what constitutes swearing, but that's for another day.
