It’s being reported that the ‘loveable rogue’ has come out and said he intends to help save Pompey as "they need to be saved". He obviously doesn’t do irony and can’t see that Pompey are in the shite partly down to him spending ridiculous amounts of fees and wages on the likes of Crouch, Defoe, Muntari, Boateng etc. For a club of their size it was always going to end in a bad way..

Sublimely, someone summed it up by saying "Harry Redknapp offering to help out Portsmouth reminds me of that time Shannon Matthews' family helped with the search party to find her."

How have they been allowed to start the season? I feel sorry for them. They need to be put out of their misery.

They lost 3-0 to Plymouth tonight in the League Cup. The only player over the age of 18 in their team was their first team coach, who had to go off injured. Seven of them had never started a senior game before. Their keeper signed a few hours before kick off. They only named 3 subs, and one of them was a 15 year old.

What a mess.
