When left-back Chris Powell went on as a second-half substitute for Joe Mattock on Saturday, he became the oldest outfield player in City's history, overtaking the legendary Arthur Chandler in the record books. €˜Channy' was 39 years and 114 days old when he made the last of his 419 City appearances in April 1935, while Powell was 39 years and 145 days old on Saturday.
Powell had already become the oldest City debutant earlier in the season but he would have to play next season to overtake Joe Calvert as the oldest City player ever.
The goalkeeper from the 1930s-40s was 40 years 313 days when he played his final game for the club in December 1947.
