I am going on a stag do at the end of the month to Prague.

Has anybody on here been before? If so have they got any tips or suggestions on where to go/not to go?

Any help is much appreciated.

Been a few times, my tip is don't act like the usual English stag w@nkers that the locals see too much of. Beer is cheap in the locals bars but not in the tourist places, get off the beaten track.

Went a few years ago and I'd echo the above.

If you go to any knocking shops be careful, some won't want to let you out without at least a paid for dance from one of the girls and they will try to rip you off as soon as they see you are the usual stag do wankers.

If you can get "off the beaten track" then we found beer for about 30p a pint (well a large glass).

If you can get to the t-mobile office on the out skirts have a wander round the back, there is a massive lake with boating, go-karting, golf driving range (where you have to be wearing a polo t-shirt) etc. Hire a boat and row down to the bottom end, there is a locals nudist beach next to bar selling the cheapest beer we have ever found!

Don't bother buying a tram ticket just get on and off wherever you like, we never got caught. Agree your taxi price before you go anywhere and beware most of the taxi drivers are gypo's and their girlfriends are the prossies!!

If the girls come up to you on the street offering any services tell them to get lost quick, if you show any interest they will surround you and before you knwo it your wallet and phone will be gone.

if you get a taxi, ask how much before you get in

Nemo's is a good strip bar

Sex Park is horrible and not fun, don't ask

the more you get away from Wenceslas Square, the cheaper the beer becomes, you pay for the view in the main squares

if you want to make the locals laugh, attempt to say "stick a finger down your throat" in Czech

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strč_prst_skrz_krk

it's the hardest tongue twister in any European language

:icon_conf I take it there isn't much of a comedy scene there if that's all it takes to amuse the locals

Lovely place. Metro is great.

The sex museum is worth a giggle, they have porn on a loop.

The castle is worth a trek up a big hill. A bar near there serves beer in a massive shaped like a boot. cracking.

You will have a great time. Mind you I went in October (ish) and it was bloody cold

I want it to be freezing, before the stag-do was arranged there was an option between Prague and Barcelona. I tried to explain that Prague at the end of January is going to be freezing and whilst more expensive Barcelona would be better. However, i was overuled by the rest of the tight arses who wanted to go somewhere 'cheap'.

As has been said already on here, how cheap it is depends on where you drink in the city. Drink right on the square and it's not cheap at all. On the other hand, if you really want 30p pints you need to find some ramshackle bar full of bearded blokes on the outskirts of the city centre.

Never a truer word written. When Mrs Boc and I went in 2005, we celebrated her birthday by having a meal in one of the restaurants in the old town square, right opposite the famous clock.

Towards the end of the evening, we were joined by some Norwegian football fans who were over there for the Euro play-off second round game, many of them fully kitted out with Viking helmets etc. Having been over to Norway for our games in Bodø and Lillestrøm earlier the same year, I wasn't altogether surprised to hear them celebrating their success in finding beer at £1.80 a pint. We didn't however spoil their evening by telling them that they were paying premium prices and that they could obtain the same for as little as 17p per pint only a couple of hundred yards away - and not only at the kind of dive that pp describes.

No that's fair comment, I was exaggerating a little to get my point across :). We found plenty of nice bars with reasonable prices too, they just didn't fit my stereotyping that's all :icon_bigg

If there's a big football match on while you're there Jaromir Jagr's bar in some sort of small shopping arcade just off the main street is quality. We watched England v Denmark during the World Cup of 2002 in there and it was a top place to watch it. Having said that it was 9 years ago so I accept no responsibility if it's not there or is shite now.

Caught up on some of my 'Dirty Sanchez' DVD's yesterday. They had a European Tour in 2005 and one of the stop-offs was Prague.

I'm sure it is not as wild as portrayed there though!

(Incidently when the DS crew went to Sweden, SGE popped up on camera saying hello!)
