if you consider Ndidi, Ricardo and Soyuncu are long term absentees. Slimani, Amartey, Morgan and Fuchs are 'in case of dire emergency' and Ward and Jakupovic are back up keepers in every sense.
Hamza Choudhury and Demarai Gray are clearly not favoured in any way and so are unlikely to kick on in any way this season.

We basically have 13 proper outfield players to fight for prem, europa and fa cup - with two of those (Vardy and Maddison) nursing what look like chronic hip injuries.

This could be a loooooong season.

Even if it is technically 14. It basically means if Praet, Maddison and Vardy continue to struggle with injuries we wont be putting out a strong premier league standard team. Added to that, the back up to that team will be even more untested at u23 level than the loanees we have out.
