I am very compassionate to anyone's mental health struggles. None of that changes the fact he was appalling last season on the pitch. He was.

Trying to take the moral high ground over such stuff makes about as much sense as a Boy Genius post.

Of course, he still might be just as shite this season as he was last. Time will tell.

The most appalling player on show by far was Danny Drinkwater.

Looking at Twitter this morning, it appears as though that wasn't a uniquely poor performance from him. He is despised by Reading fans.

Lots of people criticise individual player performances. That's fine and normal. In fact, it's an integral part of the game.

What I am trying to highlight is the fact that you relentlessly hammered Soumare last season personally and professionally however he played and often even when he wasn't involved at all.

That's what is out of order.

I don't think that there are many clearer examples of a young man mentally incapable of the lifestyle of a high profile footballer as Drinkwater.

I sympathise with him for a lot. If your brain is damaged, it doesn't matter who you are or what you do. He's made his mistakes in public and that means he's probably had it very tough.

That said, I can't condone some of the decisions he's made or the attitude to his work. He'd probably agree.

If I were advising him, I'd get out of the game and get some professional help until he's in better shape for dealing with the rest of his life. The alternative isn't pretty.

My point is, your highhorse is lame. I will continue to criticise players when they are not doing their job correctly. When they are patently and obviously woeful. It doesn't mean that I can't sympathise with them on a human level.

Now stop trying to point score by being 'holier that thou', it really doesn't suit you.
