Are there any nice pubs in and around Leicester which have a nice open fire and comfy sofas?

Not of any help I know, but I have regular meetings (business) at a hotel in Sudbury, Suffolk that has an open fire and a nice comfy sofa in front of it. It's bloody lovely.

I'd say that 90 % of pubs/bars up here have open fires, not sure about the sofas. My local has an open fire, sometimes they even light it when the lazy Aussie barman can be bothered to.
Again no help to Drew though

The three horse shoes in Stoke Golding has an open fire but its not exactly a 'comfy sofa' place, more a proper traditional boozer (with a chinese restaurant in the back) :)

I think the pub in my Mum and Dads village (Thurnby) has an open fire,Its ok in there..a typical Villlage Local:102:

I used to go to the Dog and Hedgehog there. It didn't have a license so you had to bring your own drink. There were no tables just benches. It was great.

Bloody hell its a bit more upmarket nowadays! EDIT:-just realised you may have meant the one in thurnby? I presumed you meant the dog and hedgehog in dadlington.

Surely a pub without a Licence isn't a pub ?:icon_conf Did it have any walls ?

I was in the Vaults in Uppingham (home town) last night, it had a great fire and comfy sofa, the guy opposite was fast asleep and snoring.

I guess i could set fire to my house and sit on the patio with a few tins of fosters.

It was in the olden days, he was the sand boy.

I think he is confusing it with a field

It was an unlicensed restaurant. You took your own booze and took a place on the benches. It was great. It was always packed. The owner used to sell bottles of Newcastle brown and red wine from the back of an escort van, which was parked outside on the road and off his property.

oh edited to say you big pair of ****s!
