Re: Gypos in the car park

Pikey scum, i hate them criminal ****ers with a passion.

It's always been refreshing to hear the 'thoughts' of ignorant pondlife on radio phone-ins, but now the internet means they can disseminate them even further. Hooray!

If any mods are reading this, how long would you leave up a thread titled, say, 'Re: Pakis in the car park' by the way?

Re: Gypos in the car park

the worrying thing is that if they stay there i may one day in my semi drunken state wnder up to one of the caravans in an attempt to but burger and chips, only to atagger off 2 mins later with out my wallet and with a bag full of lucky heather.

I did consider that - but on the other hand, it is interesting to see what apparently otherwise-'normal' people think when faced with something out-of-the-usual. I am sure that you will be taking notes on who said what - and I presume that you are not ready to deny that such incidents do not cause great disruptions to local communities.

Re: Gypos in the car park

I'm sure these caravans have got nothing to do with the filming of Goal 3!

I doubt many people on here are the victims of crime caused by somebody purely due to their religious/racial background.

I know for a fact that people on here have been victims of a crime caused by "pikeys"

A "paki" is more than capable of being a "pikey", the two are not mutually exclusive.

To make a comparison between a "way of life" sterotypically fuelled by crime and an innocent nationality is bordering on absurd.

I must say I feel uncomfortable about this thread and have thought of closing it down.

The fact that it remains open is in no way an indication that the stereotypical characterisation is condoned by the Forum.

If they are the same 'gang' as what was up Mowmacre Hill just a couple of weeks back - there will be trouble.

Their abuse of a public space - making it a no-go area for children and mothers plus ruining football and cricket pitches in the process means travellers have done nothing to enhance their reptuation in Leicester of late.

Re: Gypos in the car park

how about i start a "pakis in the car park" thread, then we don't look so much against Pikey types?

Sorry Melton, that doesn't wash. Gypsies/travellers have been the victims of prejudice throughout history (including being sent to the death camps in the Holocaust and being, I believe, the most persecuted minority in modern Eastern Europe), and the word 'pikey' is a symptom of that, hence the comparison. You seem to be likening it more to, say, talking about 'chavs' for example. As certain comments on this thread indicate, it's a bit deeper than that.

Boc, I see your point, and I do prefer free speech/open discussion to censorship, but my point is that I don't believe such a thread title would have been left up. Which, I suppose, demonstrates Fitz's point.

Surely Gypos in the car park is a fact, what is derogatory about it?

Do you live in an area which is heavily populated by these unsavory characters?

Are you a guardian reading liberal do gooder?

the word gypo is the only thing i can see wrong with it, the word itself is seen as wrong. to call a bunch of people ***** that you honestly believe are ***** is fair game i think, just pick a different word for it perhaps?

Re: Gypos in the car park

Gypsies/travellers have been the victims of prejudice throughout history

Over 50 people have been directly affected by this:

http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....uleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch

as well as this football team, one across the way has been affected, so has a kiddie team and the cricket pitches are ruined.

It's also stopped the construction of a clubhouse for the bowls club and the changing rooms.

So people are bound to be highly condemning when another set move in elsewhere in Leicester.... it's just a circle.

Still gives no people to label them but gives reason to condemn.

I agree 100% with that statement, and I for one don't persecute, nor judge somebody on how they live their lives. I can see the appeal of travelling, and am sometimes envious of their lifestyle.

However, we all know their lifestyle is associated with crime at various levels, they can't afford to live a full life without it.

I was just reacting that you likened them to a race of people.

Since when has doing good been a bad thing? Are you a Sun reading fascist do badder then? :102:

It think "Gypos" is the derogatory term given all the pejorative connotations it has. :icon_conf :icon_wink

I can think of alot more offensive words to call them mate trust me, that is almost endearing from me :)

Instead of spouting off on a left wing nancy speach people may like to think of the individual pains these law dodgers have caused people.

The Gypsie of today is a far cry from the traditional traveller folk of the past.

Re: Gypos in the car park

On the subject of Itinerate Travellers I saw a programme a while back where one such person was describing to a news reporter how they cook and eat hedgehogs. Shocked she asked him "how does it taste", to which he looked pensive for a while and responded "a bit like cat". The look on her face was absolutely priceless!

Hate the feckers with a passion though.

Re: Gypos in the car park

It wont be long before the pikies start to piss of the fans and if they upset the wrong fans it is laible to kick off.
It will end in tears for the pikies

Have you ever seen them fight?! I very much doubt it would end badly for them. If it kicked off between them and the "hardnut" supporters I imagine the people it would end worse for would be the parents with young children trying to get out the way. It's normally the case

Do you think these Gypsies worry about the feeling of children when they take over a village play area, do you think they care about the old ladies drive they tarmac to an appauling standard, do you think they care about the emplyees and other customers in the resteraunts they behave like wild animals in.

I spare no thought for any group of people with such horrendous attitudes towards society.

Would you be defending Football Hooligans if they thought being called thugs was an unfair portayal of them?
