Heres one for homer..

I've been sitting here all day thinking
Same old dream ten years away thinking
Now my days are gone, memories linger on
Thoughts of when I was boy
Penny farthings on the street riding
Motorcars were funny things, frightening
Bow and hoops and spinning tops
Annie gretzel's lollipops
Comic cuts, all different things

Grandad, grandad you're lovely
That's what we all think of you
Grandad, grandad you're lovely
That's what we all think of you
Grandad grandad

Aeroplanes tied up with string flying
Telephones and talking things sighing
A radio and phonograph, Charlie Chaplin made us laugh
Silently falling about
Familiar things I keep around, near me
Memories of my younger days, clearly
Come into my mind
Everyday I find, thoughts of when I was boy

Grandad, grandad you're lovely
That's what we all think of you
Grandad, grandad you're lovely
That's what we all think of you

Grandad, Grandad..

I love that song

Don't cheapen it with your nasty sarcastic tones

not forgetting YV...

Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do
Though you may be far away
We think of you

There's no one quite like Grandma
And I know you will agree
That she always is a friend to you
And she's a friend to me
There's no one quite like Grandma
She's there in times of need
Before it's bedtime, on her knee
To us a book she'll read

Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do
Though you may be far away
We think of you

And one day when we're older
We'll look back and say
There's no one quite like Grandma
She has helped us on our way

Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do
Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do

There's no one quite like Grandma
A love we always share
At party time and Christmas too
We know that she'll be there
There's no one quite like Grandma
She always has a smile
She never hurries us along
Just stays a little while

Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do
Though you may be far away
We think of you

And one day when we're older
We'll look back and say
There's no one quite like Grandma
She has helped us on our way

Grandma, we love you
Grandma, we do
Grandma, we love you
And we know you love us too

:102: it was from the heart:102:

Good

That and 'Combine Harvester' are wonderful post modernist commentaries on the desperate isloation and loneliness felt by both the ageing population and those living in remote rural communities.

To cheapen them in any way would be an absolute disgrace.

This is my last one for today...before I go I want you to remember

You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wild
When you come to me
Give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak a language of love like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong
Take my heart and make it strong baby

In your heart I see the star of every night and every day
In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long as I'm here in your arms
I could be in no better place

You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

Each time you leave me I start losing control
You're walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I'm alone
Oh baby, don't let go

Exactly homey. The rural communities have been a victim of privatisation and the ever decreasing demand to find cheap substandard quality produce from alternative scources for a number of years now

The homelands are being destroyed to make way for dwellings and carriageways and the produce grower is now forced into looking at alternative means of survival.

I think the sensitivity H as shown to both of us in the manner of his thoughtful postings is nothing short of applaudable

Exactly - the Wurzels neatly encapsulate the desperation felt by many - having to seek out and enter into loveless relationships purely to sustain the viability of their smallholding. It's a tragic situation, captured again in their follow up "I am Cider Drinker"

"I drinks it all of the day.........Soothes all me troubles away"

Me and Mrs. Jones, we got a thing going on,
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong to let it cool down now.
We meet ev'ry day at the same cafe,
Six-thirty I know she'll be there,
Holding hands, making all kinds of plans
While the jukebox plays our favorite song.
Me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones,
Mrs. Jones got a thing going on,
We both know that it's wrong,
But it's much too strong to let it cool down now.
We gotta be extra careful
that we don't build our hopes too high
Cause she's got her own obligations and so do I.
Me, me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones,
Mrs. Jones got a thing going on,
We both know that it's wrong,
But it's much too strong to let it cool down now.
Well, it's time for us to be leaving,
It hurts so much, it hurts so much inside,
Now she'll go her way and I'll go mine,
But tomorrow we'll meet the same place, the same time.
Me and Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones.

Give this bloke a job at the NME. He'd fit right in.

'You're right about the stars, each one is a setting sun...' Jeff Tweedy (Wilco).

Are you going to either of the Shepherds Bush gigs next month?
