Blue Maniac

Alzheimers sufferer
Someone at work has just asked me to find out some info about a game in his distant memory. He thinks it was at Maine Road, and possibly against Leyton Orient, so presumably in a cup competition, and he thinks we lost or perhaps drew and lost a subsequent replay. Now, I don't think we've ever played Leyton Orient on neutral ground, but I could be wrong. I often am. Has anyone got any idea when this game might have been, or if it happened at all? Given his age, anything as far back as the mid-60s is a realistic prospect.

I just had a look in OFAF and there's no indication of Leicester ever playing Orient at Maine Road.

Soccerbase agrees, that's why I'm asking here. The question is, did we in that time play at Maine Road against anyone other than Manchester City?

He's probably got all those details wrong.
It was probably the 1961 FA cup semi-final against Sheffield United. We drew 0-0 at Elland Road, then again at the City Ground, then won the second replay 2-0 at St Andrews.

Seems a bit early but not impossible.

looking back, don't remember ANY game at Maine Road in a cup comp. They did beat us at Wembley ( I was there) Short memories gone but long term still working.

I suspect we lost almost all of those, so easily forgettable

(awaits the stats from Boc....)

We drew three of them - 66, 68 and 2004.

Maybe he sat in the Main Stand at Brisbane Road and got a bit mixed up, when we won 1-0 there in 63. We were back there two weeks later to beat them in the League on the way to the double.
