Was on a long car journey recently and decided instead of listening to random tracks from the ipod to listen to Manics - Everything Must Go and The Stone Roses from start to finish for a change. Bit sad that to me complete album listening is a novelty!
Anyway I realised as I was reviewing the albums in my head that we don't have the equivalent of the rate and review thread for music albums. So this may catch on, may not.
Comparing these two albums was interesting as they were both important indie/rock albums of the late 80s and mid 90s. But frankly The Stone Roses has aged far better. It is almost a perfect album from start to finish, and sadly I knew almost every word of it. 10/10
On the contrary Everything Must Go is only about half a great album. It is very good, but the second half of it is pretty samey and, part from maybe Australia, contains little that is stand out. 7/10.
