Side story. I ran into Martin O'Neill at Friday Night Football at Filbo the week before he was appointed. He was in a box with Martin George.

Wish we had twitter then, eh?

Join me next week for more tales from the "Savage" Files.
So there was this one day when Sav was waiting fir a phonecall, right....

I went to an evangelical church in the early 60's (not my choice) and on a couple of occasions the guest preacher was Bert Johnson who was by then doing a bit of coaching.

I saw Neil Lennon on a pay phone at EM Airport

I used to see Walsh, Lennon and Marshall, along with others on occasion, getting stuck into a few beers regularly on student night in Loughborough, back in the mid/late 90s. I suspect modern footballers treat their bodies a bit differently these days.

I had a pint with Gerry Taggart once. We laughed about the time he tried to kill Dennis Wise when he was at Stoke.

There was me, HF and Homeywomeypants, a bottle, some rope and an orange. **** me, that was Savage. #savagetales

I was walking down Saffron Lane once and a very red, very sweaty Peter Taylor ran past me in the other direction

In the 60's, I was in Marks and Spencers with my Mum and when I looked up, opposite me was Davie Gibson shopping with his wife. He was my absolute hero, but I kept my cool and just nodded recognition to him. He frowned back, pointing to his wife. I can only imagine that she didn't see it.

Great moment for a star-struck 16 year-old.

I worked full time with a retired Leicester legend for 14 years. He's already been mentioned on here by BN.

I played against a retired Marc North on a park pitch. He was superb.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

Next to the biscuits in Thurmaston Asda.
